Riley's Paintings

One of the many reasons I LoVe McPherson, is how inexpensive it is to participate in activities.
Shortly after we moved, I asked Riley, randomly, what he wanted to be when he grew up. He told me an artist, more specifically, he wanted to be a painter. That same week, we got a mailer that showed the city offered painting classes. It only cost $25 for 2 weeks! I'm so used to paying minimum $50 for every activity I've ever gotten this kid in. Even a 4 day basketball camp. Needless to say, he loved it, and now I have some new art to frame and hang for the new house. I think nature was favorite style.

As far as inexpensive.... I'm going to be able to sign both of my boys up for flag football, this fall, for the same price of what I paid for just Riley last year. Lovely perk for me!!!

Cousins

On Thursday, we headed to Wichita for a swim date with the cousins....
Alex and Joanna
Will
Reece
Unfortunately, it got cut a little short, due to a freak, sudden downpour.
This is the kiddos huddling under an umbrella...
Will, Riley, Jack and Reece
Ariana, Alex, Hannah and Will
So, on Friday we tried again. Joanna brought her kids out to McPherson for the day.
Painting and the water park were a hit!

Alex, and his first painting experience!

G & G McMillan Visit

Grandma and Grandpa McMillan came to see us from Arizona.
We (Jake) put them to hard work on our landscaping. As hard as I'd been working on the inside, I wasn't very motivated to work out there.
First we met them at Applebee's for lunch. Reece, who ALWAYS wants to sit by Dad, chose Grandpa!
Just the beginning of the outdoor overhaul!
Thankfully, we don't have to pay for dump, because Jake took many, many trips.
Saturday: Exploration Place
Grossology: The Impolite Science of the Human Body

Reece's favorite attraction. These tubes made different pitches of "tooting" sounds. FYI: Reece is our gassy kid. =)
We joked, the rest of the weekend, about how healthy we were. Your body produces gas, and it's very healthy.
Oversized Operation Table

It just took this picture, because the sign said McPherson, KS on it.
Our Princes.... Riley and Reece.
Yee Haw!
Grandpa flying a plane.
I was trying to get a good picture of Riley, but Reece took the moment to pose.
Oh, WiChItA!!!

Milking fun!
Riley driving a combine.
Miniature Kansas. This was so cool!!
On Sunday we went to "Dispicable Me."
LOVED it! I'm bummed I didn't take a picture.
Monday was intense yard work.
Tuesday was the day we sent our overworked company home.
They were probably so happy to leave.
Anyhow, thanks so much for all you did to spoil us!!

Doozie

Riley took his first (hopefully, last) big tumble off his bike.
None of us were around when it happened, so we don't know exactly how it happened, but we think he panicked and used the front brakes. This caused him to hit pretty far. He says one of his wheels got stuck in the rut between the sidewalk and grass. He was alone, and down the street. He had the courage to get on his bike, and cry all the way home. Poor guy. He had quite the goose egg on his head, a roughed up elbow and knee. This doesn't show how bad it was, but the good news is he's back on his bike!!

5 Star Advertising

Or my child watches too much TV.

Reece: I don't like this bandaid stuff. (Walmart brand Neosporin, that was left on the kitchen counter) You know why? It takes more days for your owie to go away... Cause the TV says so! I only like the yellow kind. (AKA the REAL Neosporin)

Kitchen Revealed

Technically, the kitchen was one of the first "mostly" finished rooms in my house.... however, there was so much counter space, that it became the home of all of our tools and paint supplies over the last 8 weeks....
until today!
BEFORE:
More floral wallpaper.
AFTER:

This was a huge selling point to our house. Most homes we checked out, had kitchens only the 5th of this size, and sometimes you would walk right through, and miss the kitchen. (You only think I'm exaggerating.)
Although, this is more Oak than I personally enjoy, it's still amazing to have an updated kitchen in such an old home. We took off the wallpaper.... the kitchen came off in sheets, thankfully. Then we painted it Contented (green), and I spray painted all of the handles oil rubbed bronze to update them cheaply. There are 54 cabinets and I talked Jake out of spending the $150+ to replace them all. I have cabinets all the way up to the ceiling, throughout the kitchen, which means I have empty kitchen cabinets. I won't complain.... I've finally unpacked all wedding gifts, thanks to this fact!! Now JODY needs to make me a better valance, than the one that was left behind!! ;)
Sorry about the pictures.... it's a difficult room to get decent pictures in!

Aunt Jaime's Room

This room isn't anything spectacular.... but it looks so much better than this green on green NiGhTmArE!!!!
It's just where we put our extra stuff... but it has a VERY comfy bed, and is ready for family and friends to come stay over (hint hint).
And you'll get to stare at a huge drawing of yours truly... ;)

I ran out of room in my house, so it's now my jewelry holder.
Yay for being done!!!
I don't have anymore updates for a while!!!
