Pi Rewards

Riley finished his "Pi" project!! So it was time for some French Silk Pie from Village Inn...his new favorite! He got to show us the project, but I haven't figured out how to put it on here. He did a great job, and it was very comical...in a good comical way. The humor in it was great! He got word from his math teacher, Mr. Scott, that he made sure he was placed in the advanced 7th grade math class next year to make sure he didn't get as bored as he did at times this year. I didn't even have to ask...that makes you feel good. Go, Riley!

3rd Grade Musical

Reece is almost done with 3rd grade... "sniff, sniff."
His musical didn't have a title, but it was all about saving our earth and resources on our planet.
Before the show, Reece got to show me his drawing from himself. I was able to guess it first...mostly because he lived in a jacket just like the one he drew all winter. It was his favorite.

Reece and Miss Foster. Just a few more weeks and Reece will be a big, bad,  4th grader!

Glenwood Canyon Trail

We got out for a nice Sunday stroll a few weeks ago... the weather was nice, but we just weren't wanting to hike just yet so we found this bike/walking trail along the Colorado River. It's strange at first, because you really are walking along I70 for a bit, then you cross a bridge over 70 and then you are in a "horseshoe" shaped trail through the canyon. The river was high and it got us very excited for it to warm up enough to float down it this summer. We even saw a few Bighorn Sheep ... but you had to have an eye for them. They blending extremely well...great for survival.

Almost right when our walk started we heard something fall behind us.  Turns out we were 10 feet ahead from this crazy rockslide (It's really about the size of my hand, but it gave us a good sarcastic laugh!)

UNDER CONTRACT!!

We are under contract!! We found a town home that had a good majority of our wish list and in this market, we felt as though we needed to jump on it! Thankfully, our "jumping on it" actually gave us a few days to stir over and make sure we really liked the house. We also feel extremely lucky that we got in under asking price. So many homes here get full offers or go into bidding wars. We avoided all of that drama. We still have the last few hurdles to jump through before closing in early June, but we are packing as if we move tomorrow! We are so excited and hope all goes well the next few weeks.

Say "HI" Riley!! Haha... ;)

My "Pi" Guy

This week I got some one on one time with Riley. I dropped Reece off at soccer and took Riley to Village Inn for some pie. Riley informed me that he is so far ahead in his Math class that everyday he has been going out into the hall to work on a class presentation on "The History of Pi." Not sure when this kiddo became obsessed with Pi...and pie, but it's just a part of Riley now.

I was sad when we moved here and they didn't do advanced classes in 6th grade, as he was signed up for a couple in McPherson, but I'm so happy with the Math teacher he did get and am glad he recognizes that Riley needs more in this subject. When Riley is all done, I'll try to add his presentation on here.

3rd Grade Writings

Reece has been working on a writing a lot in 3rd grade. Here is his practice story he wrote to get ready for state assessments. He was given this prompt... "What is your favorite pair of shoes?"

Step, step, step. When I walk in my favorite pair of shoes they aren't too loud. They aren't too quiet. They are just right! I really like my shoes because of the colors. Silver, black, and white. Every day, I look at my shoes in the morning thinking they're the best shoes ever. My shoes are very comfortable and if I fall on my feet it won't hurt too much. I think it's because I bought them less than a year ago and they're in great shape. I try to do my best to keep them in great shape because of the colors. I really like my favorite pair of shoes because of all those things and I hope you like you shoes.

It's just so cute watching kids grow in the writing department...I can tell he gives his best.

Here is another one with the prompt, "What do you do at recess?"

Scream, you're it, come on! The sounds of recess, getting a break from learning and getting fresh air. I like recess. One reason is that I like to run and play because it's nice to get active after learning and run. Another reason is to get fresh air to your brain because it pumps more blood to your brain and fresh air is better. I also like it because it's good to exercise because more blood to your brain and you get stronger. I hope you do all of these things to help you stay focused.

So he like the word "because" and he definitely repeats his main points often... haha! Either way it's cute coming from a 9 year old.

Hiatus

We've been a bit boring lately...but this will catch you up on the few things that have happened in the last month...
We didn't get to travel for spring break, but we broke down and bought annual passes to the adventure park. We've already gotten our money's worth. They opened the giant swing up just for spring break, and we can't get enough of it!

Here is a picture of our canyon we live in...I took it while standing in line for the giant swing.

Reece in the black, making contact with the camera.

Riley on the right... he loves it, but hangs on for dear life the entire time.

I cut my hair for the first time in 2.5 years (other than trimming it up.)
BEFORE

AFTER
She took 4 inches off... and then she styled it herself. Not anything like I style it, so this is a bit crazy, but my curls are happy to have the extra weight off. I'm pleased with it on most days. It was hard going to a stranger because my sister has been the only one to touch my hair in years.

Reece warming up for his first game... the weather was near perfect for 830 in the morning. He played an older Basalt team and they lost by several points...I lost track... but Reece's team had 2 goals, and they just happened to be made by Reece! Woohoo! Things are really starting to click and he's showing so much improvement. He had one goal followed by a made Penalty Kick. I was one proud mama! Hope this keeps him going and keeps him excited about this sport!

Reece has a new coach this season and she's pretty enthusiastic and creative. Looking forward to more amazing weather and more growing for Reece.

That about sums it up... I've moved on to full time now at my job and we are still house shopping. It's been very stressful and mentally exhausting, but we will find the right house for us. It probably wouldn't be so hard if we weren't up against investors with cash who are getting into bidding wars and also driving up the prices of the homes around here. But the right one has got to be out there for us. Trying to stay positive. Wish us luck!
