Curious Reece

***WARNING! The following are some conversations Jake and I had with Reece recently. We have found them quite funny, some may feel differently, and I'm sorry. You have been warned.***

Last week we were getting swimsuits and sunscreen on, so we could head to the pool. As I was applying sunscreen to Reece, he asked, "Hey Mom, how do these things get big?" He was referring to my chest. Without laughing, I just had to respond that when girls get bigger, those things get bigger.

The other night, we were watching the movie "WALL-E", and it was the part where WALL-E found a bra, then he put it over his eyes. Reece said, "That doesn't go on eyes, it goes right here!" He said this as he reached over to pat my chest. Thanks Reece.

Yesterday, Riley and Reece got to go over to Tyler and Logan's house. When they got home, Reece asked if I knew that Tommi (their mom) had a baby in her tummy? I, of course, did. She is at least 6 months pregnant. Then as Jake was giving the boys a bath, this was their conversation.

Reece: "How do babies get inside mommies? Do Doctors put babies inside mommies?"

Jake: "No, daddies put babies inside mommies."

Reece: "With what?"

Jake: "With a special tool."

Reece: "Can I see the tool?"

Jake: "No, you cannot see the tool."

Gee, Jake. Next time, please tell him the Doctor puts the baby there. He's 4, for goodness sake. This is SO Reece. He is so curious, and must ask about everything. This is his way of learning. We got off easy with Riley. He wasn't the one to ask questions. He learned by observing and made life so nice.

Reece Update

I haven't blogged much about Reece lately. He still has his tic. It comes and goes. It is really hard to notice it, when you don't know what you are looking for. Some days it is really often, and we see it in his face. Other days, Reece is bouncing off the walls, so you would never be able to notice it. If I hold his right hand, I feel it often. Lately, I've let him fall asleep in my bed, and I always notice it in his sleep. Thankfully, it still doesn't bother him.
Today, I took him back to the Neurologist, Dr. Collins, and just let him know it is still happening, but I'm not too worried about it. He decided to leave it at that. We hope he will just grow out of it, or it remains not bothersome. We will just let him know if there is any significant change in the future.
On another note, I put Reece into 5T shirts a couple months ago. 4T just wasn't quite cutting it, so I thought it was time. The other day he had on his "Thomas" shirt, which is a 5T, and it was already looking too small! I told him his he is getting too big. His response was, "I know, because I keep getting shots!" Reece thinks it's all of his shots that make him big. Or maybe it's because I tell him he can't go to school without shots.
Last night, Reece got mad at me over a silly thing. So silly, I can't even remember what is was about. Well, this caused him to repeatedly tell me, "I don't love you anymore."
Thankfully, I wasn't cranky and just responded, "Well, I still LOVE you!" This went back and forth for awhile. It amused me more than hurt me. A little while later, he came back to me and said, "If I don't love you, will you kick me out of the house?"
The bad mom that I am, quickly said, "Yes. I will kick you out of the house."
Oh, man! Here came the waterworks. "But, if you kick me out of the house, I will go to Tyler's." (A good friend of the boys that lives around the corner) All while trying not to cry, but not doing a good job of that.
I picked him up, and told him I would never kick him out, and joked with Jake, that Reece will live off us FOREVER!! Reece loved me shortly after that, and then invited me to watch a movie with him. The End!

Doctor Check-Ups

Today we went to the Doctors. We did Riley's 7 year check-up a little premature. (His birthday is on the 19th.) Then we needed to get Reece in for shots so he can go to preschool. (Can't believe my baby is heading to school in September.) =(
Riley has topped the 50 pound mark, he is officially 51 pounds and 4 1/2 feet. Unfortunately, we need to take him back in a month for a Hep A shot. Then in the fall (after pool season) we will have to take him in, to remove a mole on his back. We've been watching it for a couple of years and she feels it is to a size, where removal is best. She doesn't know if stitches will need to be involved, so water wouldn't be good. His mole is smack dab in the middle of his back, very close to his spine. Now that I think of it, it is pretty much on his spine. Everything else looked great though.
Since it was just a shot visit, I didn't take his height and weight. I'll save that for his birthday. Sadly, he had to get 4 shots today. We will also take him in with Riley, to get the Hep A shot as well. The nurse asked if we should do it in the arms or legs. I opted for legs, but Reece insisted arms. Don't ask me why...but he insisted. The nurse quickly shot 2 in his left arm. Reece hurt but did not cry. While she switched sides, I asked if he wanted his arm or leg. He didn't want a shot anymore. Shocking! So she did the other 2, and finally when the 4 shot was taking place, he started to cry. It didn't take too long for him to stop, then he got a sucker on the way out.
I am SOOOO thankful that I will NEVER have to have my kids recieve more than 1 shot at a time from here on out. Yay me!!!

The Summer Boredom Begins

Not that long ago, I was SO excited for school to be out. I love the summer routine (or lack there of), the pool, not having to entertain Reece, because Riley is here. This summer, those days have come to a halt!
A week and a half ago, Riley was saying, "I'm glad I don't have school, because now I can stay with Reece FOREVER!!!" The last couple of days, Riley has been mopey, whiny, tired, lazy and bored. When Riley is like this, he is quite good at pushing my buttons, and finding Reece's buttons to push as well. Then when he gets in trouble, his big, puppy-dog eyes well up with tears. He tries so hard not to cry, so instead he hides in his room.
For some reason, the boys aren't big fans of just playing outside, unless it is the pool or park. I have to require them to go out, then that only lasts for 10 minutes. I know I've had a busier summer this year, but we have still had a lot of family time, it just seems the weather has played a big role on each of my days off.
Riley did get an opportunity to start making some allowance this summer. I made a list of 10 items for him to check off each day. For each day, Riley can earn $1.00. Riley desperately wants a Wii, so this was a good way to earn and save. The list involved making his bed, cleaning his bedroom, reading a small book to Reece, reading a chapter in his "Magic Tree House" books, making 15 baskets outside, eating dinner (which is often a fight in this house) etc... He was so excited about getting allowance...FOR 2 DAYS!!! He was bored with it after 2 1/2 days. His response was, "I only wanted $2.00." Can you believe that?? Then he had the nerve to tell me,"You are saving your money to buy me a Wii." Ha!! You have a lot to learn, Mister!!
Wish me luck, as we are only in the 2nd week of Summer.

It's Official

I'm a CrAZy person, working 3 jobs!! For the last 9 months I have been working at Jaime's salon, Par Exsalonce Salon and Day Spa. (She does hair there) I've been working guest relations, and the salon has been so great to work our schedules, making Jaime and I work opposite shifts of each other so she could be my back up babysitter. However, I had to drive about 25 minutes each way, and I'm not having as much fun with it anymore. But I still love the girls I work with.
Yesterday, I started a brand new job that I am super excited about. I am working for my local Chiropractor, Dr. Cook. I will be at the front desk and be a receptionist. But, technically I'll have the title of a "Chiropractic Assistant." or CA. I had a great first day, but have a lot to learn and to get organized. I will start out working Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Dr. Cook is still fairly new, and is building his clientele still. His wonderful wife will be training me. I will have some peace of mind when Riley is back in school, working so close to him. It is literally a small drive across the city of Gardner. Not to mention, the gas I will be saving!! I also turned 26 a little over a year ago, and started to fall apart. A wonderful perk, is free adjustments. That's just what I need for my terrible lower back. I once had a Chiropractor tell me I had flat feet, which was why I thought I had knee and back issues. Yesterday, we took a cool colored picture scan of my feet, and I have nearly perfect arches. YAY!! He's never seen his machine take such a perfect picture. Now, I just have to preserve what I have going for me. =) Well, there are so many perks to working here in town, and Dr. Cook will be flexible with me, and if need be, I can have the boys with me for a while. I'm so excited for this new opportunity that just landed in my lap! Wish me luck.
Lastly, I'm sure you've read my previous blog, I now sell Cookie Lee Jewelry. I have 2 catalog parties going on right now, and I have a few more in the works. What girl doesn't LOVE jewelry?? We'll see. I've gotten several compliments on some of the pieces I've worn, and that is how I got one of my parties booked. I'm just enjoying this as it goes, and we'll see where this takes me. (I might need a little luck there too.)
It sounds like I work around the clock, but it really isn't the case. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I'm working most of the day at the Chiropractors. I'll have my evenings at home. Tuesday nights and every other Sunday (11-6) I'll work at the Salon. This leaves Thursdays and Saturdays open for Jewelry parties and/or family time. Then I'll have every other Sunday for family. It doesn't sound like a lot, until I write this down. We'll see how this goes. This is my first official week on this new schedule, and who knows, maybe it will turn out being okay to just do the CA and jewelry thing? Time will tell.
