This morning I realized I never touched base, on my last post, on what I really wanted to get to. So, when we were at our new house on Monday, we ordered pizza for dinner, and shortly after, several of our neighbors came to introduce themselves. It was so nice. Day and night from when we moved here to Gardner. One of our neighbors has a boy, E.J, that is Riley's age. It could not have been more perfect. Riley had several neighbor kids come out and they played until late, outside. When they left, Riley said, "I guess I do have friends in McPherson!" It was so cute!! The next morning, the boys didn't want to come back. They were ready to leave their life in Gardner. They loved the house, and they loved their new friends.
Another cool thing is.... I have an old friend, that I'd played basketball in high school with. She lives in McPherson, and after we had put the offer on our home, found out she lived on the same street. I was excited about this, and that confirmed my worries about putting the offer on a house so quickly. Well, it turns out her house is literally 2 doors down!!! It couldn't be more perfect! 31(ish) days and counting....

Two Mortgages
Yikes!!
We closed on our McPherson home yesterday. Now we are feeling the pressure of needing the buyer of our Gardner home to come through for us. She is scheduled to close on May 14th.
My mono won't go away, so after we closed we went to our bare house, that doesn't have any furniture. It was a dreadful, and long day. My sister's came to see the house. Jody was there to start helping us choose wall colors. The plan originally was not to tear down wall paper, but half of it came off so easily. It had to be done. All we did have was an air mattress, because our furniture isn't being moved for a week. I was so achy, and I didn't have anywhere to rest comfortably. This made my day miserable, and today was even worse. I was planning on driving back Monday night, and going to work today, but the wall I hit was so bad, that I stayed the night, and after being awake a couple hours this morning, I had to go back to bed. I felt like a truck had run over me. Needless to say I missed work, and didn't get home until 4 pm today. Mono sucks!
I did get to take Reece to Kindergarten round up last night. Reece did well, but was a little shy. He will be going to Roosevelt Elementary. It will be all day kindergarten, and I'm actually pretty excited about this. He is so lost without Riley, that this relieves me, and maybe I'll be able to find a day job, without worrying about babysitters. We shall see.
This post is so all over the place. I'm exhausted and not thinking clearly. Good night!

Reece Humor
Yesterday, first thing in the morning, I was beginning to get breakfast ready for the boys. Reece was sitting on the kitchen counter, and came across my birth control packet.
"Mom." While waving my packet... " Why don't you want a little baby?"
"What do you mean?" with my eyes wide open!
"This medicine makes you not grow a baby!"
What do I say? How do I not crack up!!
"Babies are a lot of money, and I don't have enough money to have another one!!"
Enough said.... I don't know how he knew this, and if I had this conversation with him, it was a long time ago. Kids are such sponges!!!

Day of Cake
Alright...this is almost 2 weeks late. We had a busy day of birthday parties a couple of Saturday's ago. Pizza and Cake! Yay!!!
JeReMy TuRnS 5!!!
An excited Reece.
Riley didn't have anyone his age at this party. It was a Chuck~E~Cheese, and he enjoyed the games, but as soon as he had to sit down and eat, he gave a pouty face and said, "Chuck~E~Cheese isn't really my place."
It just meant he was bored, and wished someone his age was there...
This boy and his excuses are quite annoying!

Reece is so good about raising his hand before speaking!
Everyone has picked out their animal, and they are ready to go stuff them!
Ill and Irritated
After 2 weeks of feeling under the weather, it's been confirmed that I have Mono!!! What the heck?? When I hear this, it reminds me of a teenage, kissing disease. I'm baffled, and looking up info online, only makes it worse. It says that I probably came in contact 4-6 weeks ago... that makes it so hard to think about. Also, I'm not a germaphobe (sp?) but I'm pretty weary of germs. How did this happen? Arg.... I know I've been so overwhelmed and so exhausted, maybe my defenses are down. I've officially stretched myself too thin. All I can do is rest. My head hurts, I ache all over, and a low fever keeps popping up. I need strength to get through these last weeks here, and I need to be able to help the boys enjoy their last days here too. Hope this passes soon! I also hope I didn't pass this to my boys or Jake in the mean time!

First Kiss
Ummm....so Riley got his first kiss on Friday. It took place at his extra recess. Jake picked him up from school that day, and Riley could hardly contain himself. He told Jake right away about Meghan kissing him on the temple. Jake of course texted me this. I was in shock, but was laughing. I knew Riley was way too shy to make a move like that.
When I got home, I wasn't going to say anything, but Riley was so giddy. He had a smile ear to ear. I don't remember the last time I saw this kid SO happy. I just commented on how smiley he was.... "Oh, yeah! I forgot to tell you... my girlfriend, Meghan, kissed me today."
Ha ha!!!
"Then we hugged for like 10 seconds or something."
Oh my! What am I going to do with Riley?!
2nd grade?!
I was in 7th!!!
Ahhh!!!
Then I joked with Jake.... Either Alaina is old news, or Meghan is the rebound girl.
Either way, Riley is a lady's man.
And, apparently Meghan is moving as well...

Sick Day(s)
Ugh... My hopes for a 24 hour fever, is stretching itself to nearly 72 hours. It goes away with meds, but comes right back. At night it goes away, but within one or two hours of waking up, it's back. I handle a lot of stuff well, but fevers I do not! I can't handle the head to toe achiness. It's the worst thing ever to me. I need it to go away, or I need Jake to come back home NOW! My fever has stayed in the 99 range for the most part, but for me that's enough. I have a low body temperature, so it doesn't take much for my pain to feel out of control.
Riley came down with a fever last night, but it quickly went away. I had to keep him home because of the 24 hour rule. He's still fine. He's never had a fever go away so easily. I kept Reece home, because I hurt too bad to take him to preschool.
On a lovely note... Reece found some lovely reasons to wake me from my morning sleep today. He wanted to show me that he could touch his ear to his shoulder. Awesome trick! =/ Also, that he was down to his last clean pair of underwear. Laundry day it is. So happy he keeps me up on all the current happenings....

Great Friends!!
I just need to take this time to write about my wonderful friends, who are making it hard for me to want to move away...
Jake has been away for a while now. He will finally return late next week, but since he's been gone, my grass has grown substantially. It had been on my to~do list all week, but it rained when I actually had time. Jake had also freaked me out about the mower. It is always difficult to turn on, the first mow of the season. I had psyched myself out too. One time I had to give up, because our mower is so stubborn.
As a joke, based of a King of Queens episode, where Doug configures an upstairs and a downstairs wife...I put on Facebook that I was accepting applications for an "outside" hubby. Only requirement is they needed to mow my lawn. Well, my sweet friend, Jill, had her husband come mow my lawn yesterday afternoon. It was so wonderful! I had planned on starting when I was off work, and school was out. Instead, Jeff had it done by the time school was out.
It was so kind, but then I learned that he saved me a lot of money too. You see, not long after I got home from picking Riley up, I received a phone call from the repair shop saying my car was ready. If I would have been mowing, I would have missed that call, and I wouldn't have gotten my car back, and would have had to pay for the rental over the weekend.
When I finally picked up my car and got home, I felt very achy! I thought I was just that tired, because I'm not sleeping well with Jake gone. The ache got a little worse and I found that I had a fever. I don't remember the last fever I've had, but I was miserable. I don't handle fevers well at all.
So for more ways than I can even explain, I'm so grateful for Jeff and Jill for helping me out! It's great friends like these, that will make leaving Gardner so difficult in about 6 weeks!!
I also have to thank Tommi for always being so willing to help me out with the boys, while I'm working and Jake is gone. She has been a lifesaver!!! Thank you friends!
As for my fever, I woke up feeling great. Which was good, because the boys and I had a crazy, busy day. We had a basketball game in Bonner Springs, and birthday party at Chuck~E~Cheese, and a 2nd birthday party at Build~A~Bear. Unfortunately, 5 minutes after we left the house, the aches came back. Many hours later, I got home, and just as suspected, the fever had returned. No other symptoms, just a fever. Hope this goes away, because I have no one around to take care of me....

My Tardy Easter Post
We went to Wichita for Easter. We decorated eggs on Saturday with cousin, Aidan. They got a cool tye~dye kit, that was fun. I'll look for it next year. The next morning, the boys were up early and had a "practice" egg hunt in Aidan's backyard. It was a great idea not having the lawn mowed, because the eggs were hidden well! Reece was a natural, it took Riley some time to get into it.
House Update
The suspense is over. We will for sure be getting the house we've been wanting. When we had the inspection done, there were a few big issues that we wanted fixed. We weren't surprised about the issues of a 100+ year home, but we weren't going to buy it, if we were going to have to dump a ton of money in it, just to live up to code. There was a huge foundation crack, some old plumbing issues, and an electrical issue. The sellers hadn't known of any of them, because we were the first ones to have an inspection. We asked for these bigger issues to be fixed. They got estimates and were very willing, but did ask us to chip in a little. The grand total was well over $6000.00, and we paid a small fraction. The work should be in progress, and within 2 weeks (hopefully), we should have the paperwork complete and Jake will have a place to live!! I'm very excited, but just want the rest of this process to be wrapped up quickly and easily!!
Mrs. Crabbs~2nd Grade
Riley is 2nd row, 2nd from left.
Sadly, Alaina is missing here....which means she probably is absent in the yearbook as well.

Goodbye, Alaina!
Riley came home last Friday, and told me there were 2 reasons he had a bad day.
1.) He didn't get a chance to play his board game, that he got to take to school. (His team won a pajama and board game day)
2.) Alaina was going to be moving the next day.
Oh, the poor kid. Alaina moved here in 1st grade, and Riley has been smitten ever since. I let him call Alaina that night. It was so cute. I could hear how excited Alaina was on the phone, and Riley had so much to say, but he couldn't get a word in, except that he was going to miss her. She invited us to go say bye in person the next day. Riley made a card... I will miss you! Have a good time in Fennix (Phoenix). Followed by a lot of frowny faces. He gave her some skittles, and a cute monkey necklace. She loved it all, and she kept giving him hugs. Riley didn't really know how to react.
The next day when he had to do his weekend journal, for school, he wrote about going to say goodbye. At the end he wrote... I hugged Alaina 4 times. He he!!!

April Fool's
Well, my April fools day started off rough. I brought it on myself. I woke up, and told the boys that I decided they couldn't play the Wii and DS for 3 weeks. Of course, they were confused and asked why. I just told them they played too many video games, in a very serious voice. They had a disappointed look, but didn't know how to react. Of course I yelled, "APRIL FOOLS!!!!"
This brought on many awful "April Fool's" jokes. They were painful. They don't understand the difference between a good and bad joke. All were bad. Very, very bad!! Until....
After school Riley told me he kissed his best friend Tyler. (A girl, for those who don't know) My eyes got huge, and all I could say was "You did?" In a very obvious, concerned voice. He got me! He got me good!!! It was the best April Fool's joke ever! Riley got a great laugh, and was very proud. I told Tyler's mom, and she about had a heart attack, but also said if Tyler really was going to kiss a boy, she'd rather it be Riley. Ha ha!!!

A Reece funny:
Jake and I were upstairs watching TV, last weekend. Riley and Reece were heading downstairs to watch cartoons, when Reece declared (or demanded): "Don't watch 4-9!!! Those are our cartoons!! Not yours!!!
Meaning, Nickelodeon belongs to the McMillan boys, so consider yourself warned!!!
